Auditions open for 2017 Festival opening show

December 1, 2016

Thespians attending the 2017 International Thespian Festival are now eligible to audition for the national cast opening show We Tell the Story: A Celebration of the works of Ahrens & Flaherty. This show offers students the opportunity to perform and work alongside Broadway talent including writers, actors, and musicians. Students and artists from across the country arrive early at Festival to produce the show in only 48 hours.

Joining the show’s production team this year is Broadway producer Eric Cornell, whose credits include company manager for Sister Act, Next to Normal, and Wicked, as well as assistant company manager for the second national tour and Chicago company; and producer for Big Fish and Rocky. His production of Anastasia by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, a work that he premiered in 2016, will open on Broadway in the spring of 2017.

J. Jason Daunter (Wicked, Shuffle Along) returns as the artistic director and Jason Yarcho (Wicked) as musical arranger and supervisor. Also on the team are Executive Producer Matt Conover, Production Supervisor Jeff Hall, and Producer Diane Carr. Carr also serves as the director of chapters and communities for the Educational Theatre Association.

Students wishing to audition as performers may submit their applications here, and those who wish to audition as technicians may apply here. Applications must be received by February 26, 2017, at midnight Pacific time.
