The Educational Theatre Association is seeking qualified theatre professionals and educators to submit proposals for workshops and professional development training sessions for three 2016 educational events: the Junior Thespian Festival, the Thespian Festival, and the EdTA National Conference.
Proposals should be interactive, provide actionable insight, demonstrate alignment with the new National Theatre Arts Standards, and address a range of learning needs for students and educators.
Junior Thespian Festival 2016 will be held February 12-14 at Denison (Texas) High School. EdTA seeks programming that builds artistic foundations in young artists, sharpening their performance and technical skills and inspiring creative confidence. The Junior Festival also aims to provide teachers with new resources and ideas for their classrooms and theatre spaces. EdTA is seeking about thirty-five workshops for students and their teachers. Proposals will be accepted until December 1, 2015.
International Thespian Festival 2016 will be held June 20-25 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The Festival is a one-of-a-kind weeklong immersion experience in singing, dancing, acting, designing, directing, creating, writing, and memory-making. The event features training sessions presented by theatre professionals, individual and group performances, programs for technical theatre students, and opportunities to audition for college admission and scholarship. EdTA is seeking about two hundred workshops for students and their teachers. Proposals will be accepted until March 15, 2016.
The 2016 EdTA National Conference will be held September 15-18 at the Tropicana Las Vegas, Nevada. EdTA is seeking about forty workshops and professional development experiences for theatre educators. Proposals will be accepted until May 15, 2016.
