EdTA seeks a Development Associate to support Development activity for the association.

Job Description
The Development Associate is responsible for gift processing and acknowledgement, managing the donor database, administering the stewardship program, managing the annual giving calendar and serving as lead event planner for annual donor events.

Specific Responsibilities

  2. Assist with prospect research and qualification of major donors; answer donor questions.
  3. Serve as Database Administrator for Raiser’s Edge, including training current and new staff members and keep system updated.
  4. Assist with Stewardship of scholarship gifts and other major gifts.
  1. Manage annual giving calendar including appeal design, execution, and coordination with other departments on collateral materials. 
  2. Manage specified grant relationships and contribute to all other grant proposals and required reporting.
  3. Coordinate with Finance staff to ensure proper accounting and processing procedures.
  4. Assist with budget planning for department.
  1. Responsible for other duties as directed by the Development Director.
  2. Serve as lead event planner for Development events including venue and catering selection, ticketing design and sales management, print materials and collateral coordination.  Participate in planning and event coordination for other association events.  

Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent Associate degree + experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, particularly in an arts, education, or non-profit environment
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or other donor management software

  • Advanced copywriting and editing skills
  • Must be digital savvy with strong social media skills

  3. Monitor the EdTA Community pages for advocacy posts and queries.
  4. Review national and state news of record regarding pending and/or introduced arts and education legislation impacting theatre and other arts education.
  5. Create a bi-weekly summary of social media and Advocacy Digest data detailing
  6. Write and post on the EdTA advocacy Twitter feed, working in tandem with the Marketing and Communication Manager.

Long-term projects:

  1. Review and index reliable theatre education research for posting on the advocacy pages of schooltheatre.org.
  • Organize EdTA’s participation in the annual Arts Advocacy Day, including:
    • Setting Congressional appointments, as needed, for the Policy Director.
    • Aiding in the organization of the Democracyworks student essay competition and serving as chief contact for applicants.
    • Contacting state EdTA leaders and members about attendance and logistics.
  1. Serving as a liaison between the Director of Educational Policy and the Advocacy Leadership Network.
  2. Helping to plan and execute in-person and online meetings with volunteers engaged in professional development and advocacy events and projects led by the Director of Educational Policy.

Education Required
Associate degree or equivalent, Bachelor's degree preferred.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Interest in education, theatre and/or performing arts, research, and/or public policy at multiple levels is highly desired.

Position Title: Technical Director

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities for this position will be teaching courses in technical theater, stage management and assist in the general education core curriculum. As technical director this individual will supervise the technical implementation of scenic, lighting, and sound elements for a five to six production academic season. In addition, they will design and serve as safety coordinator for production facilities, including the shops and three performance venues (Main Stage, Black Box and Dance Studio) as well as maintenance of equipment. They will oversee the technical budget and operational scheduling. This position also oversees the in-house rental program of theatrical properties and scenery pieces. The Technical Director supervises students, shop foreman, student workers, contracted carpenters, painters and electricians.

Additional responsibilities may include:

      • Working with college and university leadership to recruit and retain students.

      • Actively participating in service to the University through committee participation, School and/or University level as well as service to the broader professional community.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

      • Bachelor of Arts required. MFA in Technical Theater or equivalent professional experience preferred.

      • Direct the annual productions for different level classes and summer/winter camp productions.
      • Working hours(full-time): 40 hours per week, including 20 hours teaching. Two days off each week.
      • Prepare necessary teaching aids and props for each class where necessary.
      • Review your student’s record before preparing for the end of term evaluations.
      • Be ready to substitute another teacher in classes where called upon by the supervisor.
      • Maintain excellent communication with parents and students before and after class.
      • Conduct and/or assist in demo classes.
      • Prepare and Assist in Event Days, Theme Days activities and lectures
      • Help each other in the annual productions, work as stage manager, sound control, light control, stage crew, etc.
      • Make set, prop and buy costumes for the productions.

Requirements:
Essential qualifications:

      • Clear pronunciation of English, no strong accent
      • Bachelor/Master Degree in Performing Arts / Theatre / Directing or at least two years working experience as a drama teacher with a reference letter provided.
      • Good with kids from 7-17 years old
      • Non-criminal Record
      • Medical check
      • Preferred but not essential Qualifications
      • Native English Speaker
      • Acting or directing experience
      • Outgoing personality with lots of vocal and physical energy is preferred.
      • Curriculum plainer and trainer
      • Make curriculum with the support of teachers, and also select teaching materials, create demo/workshop/lectures, and create scripts based on the student’s level.
      • Train all the teachers and evaluate their studies.
      • Plan warm ups, theatre games, mime, improvisation, story-telling, extract from plays, monologues, poems, proses…and all different kinds of drama/theatre exercises.

Pay, benefits, and work schedule

      • Salary based on experience and qualification. We also like to know your expectations. A general range is 14000+RMB after tax, including 3000 housing allowance.
