Bio

Matt Curtis is the Content & Marketing Director at the Educational Theatre Association, an organization he has been involved with since elected vice-president of Thespian Troupe 561 at Thomas Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Prior to his role at EdTA, Matt was part of the Licensing team at Disney Theatrical Productions, where he oversaw the development of musicals and plays as they were published for licensed productions. As teaching artist, educator, writer, editor, and/or project manager, he has contributed to the development of over 50 plays and musicals, including Newsies, Peter and the Starcatcher, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Freaky Friday, as well as educational adaptations of Frozen, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Hairspray, Crazy for You, The Sound of Music, Singin’ in the Rain, among others. Matt holds a BA in Musical Theatre and a Master’s Degree in Theatre Education from the University of Northern Colorado, where he is currently on staff at the graduate school. Matt is honored to have worked with President Obama’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities’ Turnaround Arts program, providing underserved communities with transformative theatre arts opportunities in schools. Matt currently resides in Boston with his husband and his Wheaten terrier.
