Lincoln and the UNL campus
The state capital, Lincoln is the second-most populous city in Nebraska with more than 250,000 residents. Considered one of the Midwest’s “most liveable cities,” Lincoln boasts a steady economy, family-friendly neighborhoods, low crime rates, growing diversity, world-class health care facilities, vast educational offerings, and commitment to community. Located downtown, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus is in the northwest corner of the central business district.
A full-time police department patrols the UNL campus twenty-four hours a day by foot, car, and bicycle. The University Police Department works closely with the Lincoln Police Department to prevent and address issues on campus. The International Thespian Festival takes place during UNL’s summer academic session, so the number of college students on campus is minimal.
