The International Thespian Festival is an immersive, weeklong summer intensive in the theatre arts designed especially for high-achieving middle and high school drama students and their teachers.

Organized by the Educational Theatre Association and hosted by the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, ITF showcases the finest school theatre productions nationwide on three professional stages and offers students access to colleges and scholarship money as well as a variety of learning and competition opportunities encompassing all theatrical disciplines.

During ITF, students can continue the school theatre journey by exploring hundreds of rigorous and exciting workshops taught by experts in their field. Workshop topics include acting and performing; lighting, set, sound, make-up, and costume design and construction; and even more specialized subjects, such as puppetry, directing, stage management, and playwriting. Teachers at ITF can choose from a wealth of rich professional development opportunities meant to hone their skills both as theatre artists and as educators.

Also at ITF, students can meet with recruiters from colleges and universities from across the country, interviewing and auditioning for admission to top theatre programs and thousands of dollars in scholarship money. Additionally, students qualifying as superior in their local event can compete in National Individual Events, a special program of the International Thespian Society that assesses and recognizes significant student achievement in theatre.

A thrilling, hands-on, minds-on educational experience for both teachers and students, the International Thespian Festival broadens horizons, enriches learning, and celebrates the creativity of theatre students and theatre educators everywhere.
