Born in Puerto Rico, Ana Soler has been acting on stage and screen for more than 20 years. After earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Emerson College in Boston, she moved to New York City in pursuit of a professional acting career. She continued her studies at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and later studied Method Acting at the Elaine Aiken’s Actors Conservatory. She started working professionally at the Spanish Repertory Theater in New York City.
In 1996, her work took her to Colombia where she has had a prolific career in film, theater and television. Her filmography includes: “Posición Viciada” (1997), “Sin Amparo” (2001), “Bolívar Soy Yo” (2002), “La Otra Familia”(2011) and “Mariposas Verdes” (2017); as well as numerous roles in Colombian TV series and soap operas. The short film “The Ascent” is her debut as a director and writer. The film had its world premiere in Bogota and screened as part of the Official Selection at Holly Shorts Film Festival in August and the New York City Independent Film Festival in October 2015.
Her feature length script “The Best Day” has competed for Best International Screenplay at Oaxaca Film Fest 2014 and Madrid International Film Festival 2015. The screenplay was one of the 25 Semi Finalists at the Spotlight Screenplay Competition in Los Angeles in 2015.
“The Dusk of Dawn” is her second film as director, producer and writer. In 2017, the film was part of the Official Selection at Cine Corto Popayan in October, and at Bogota Short Film Festival in December. It will continue to participate on the festival circuit during 2018.
Her third film “A Night with Dad” – shot with an I Phone 6 - screened at the Smart Films Festival in Bogota in October of 2017, as part of the Official Selection in the Professional Category.
Ana is currently working in the development of several web series and a feature screenplay.
