I saw it in the basement of a library when it was still in development, and later bought the cast recording when it was playing in NYC. I've been keeping an eye on the work Tysen and Miller ever since. I liked the original more than their eventual draft, but I still think it's a terrific show. It's male-heavy, and a very small cast, otherwise I would've produced it by now. (it's always in my back pocket as a "someday...") Still, the production can cast a spell, and the story's coming of-age story and emotional resonance is undeniable. Since I saw it in development, the production values were very simple--wooden ladders, chairs, barrels and some planks--but thematic and characters were front and center, and it didn't need giant spectacle. It was a magical evening in the theater that I still think about sometimes.Go for it!
My experience with MTI has always been very positive.
