Resources on Mid-Atlantic accent?

    Hello all,

I'm looking for resources on the Mid-Atlantic (also called Transatlantic) accent.  My MS Fall production will be a 1930s-style radio play, and I'd like to incorporate this characteristic element, but I'm having trouble finding lessons and resources that I can share with my students.  I know that there is a broad range of features that appear in this completely invented accent, but I'd like to find a simple how-to that can be shared with younger performers who don't have a lot of experience learning or discerning the intricacies of various regional accents.

Do you have or know of any guides, lessons, or other resources?  Feel free to email me directly (mahlerl@stlukesct.org) if you'd prefer.

    Thank you!

The Wikipedia article is actually great! It goes over vowel and consonant changes and other features, plus lists lots of performances for reference.

This website breaks it down into some easier pieces: https://howtotransatlanticaccent.wordpress.com/
    Sounds like a fun project!

    Hi,

There is a wonderful book called Accents by Robert Blumenfeld. It is my go to accent bible. My book has two CD's with examples of each dialect. Highly recommend!
