If you are an ITS Troupe Director, please let your Thespians and their parents/guardians know about this opportunity:

EdTA/ITS is offering Social and Emotional Learning Workshops for FREE to the parents/guardians of students who are in the International Thespian Society. There are four separate sessions which happen live on Thursdays (November 4 & 18, December 2 & 9, 2021) and then are accessible on demand afterwards. This is made possible via a generous grant from the Ohio Arts Council.

     Topics discussed include:

    • Brain 101 - This is how learning happens and how you can help your kids to get smarter every day.
    • Empathy - Learn how to build "neuro-plasticity", the key characteristic of people who demonstrate high levels of empathy.
    • Habits - Learn how to change bad habits into good ones that get better results.
    • Responsibility - Empower your children to be fully responsible for all of the choices that they make. Give them tools to turn mistakes into powerful learning.

Parents/guardians can register for the workshops using this link:

Students can also register for a series of SEL workshops designed just for them. These workshops are also FREE as part of ITS membership!

    Topics addressed:

    • Fear and the Brain
Strategies for overcoming fear and optimizing the brain's ability to learn.
    • Be. Do. Have.
Enhanced goal-setting that includes visualization and "connected thinking" models.
    • Live Above the Line
It is natural to make mistakes, but be prepared to learn from them. Learn the 4 behaviors that prevent learning and what to do instead.
    • The Empathy & Creativity Connection
Two capacities of the brain can be developed simultaneously: creativity and empathy. Learn how to habitually improve both.
    • Brain Defense
Protect your mental health by learning practices to defend your brain from negative influence.

Sessions are live every Tuesday (October 5, 12, 19, 26 and November 2, 9, 16, 30, 2021) at 5:00 p.m. PST, 8:00 p.m. EST. Recordings of each session will be available no more than two hours after the session ends.
