Community Tips: Updating Your Email

This is one part of a series of blogs about maximizing your experience with our online Community, not only to help newbies get their bearings but to also help experienced users learn more and take the next steps, or assist others.

Today, I'll show you how to update your email address. There are a couple ways to do this, depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

METHOD 1: If your current email is no longer valid or you want to change the email where you receive all personal EdTA/ITS/Community correspondence. This will also change your access codes.

It's important to note that the email address used for Community is tied to your INDIVIDUAL account in our database. Which means that if you are a troupe director, it may not be the email used for troupe correspondence, since a troupe is tied to a school, which is considered an ORGANIZATION account. In this blog, we're going to cover how to update the email on your individual account, not your school/troupe/organization account.

Log in using your current access codes, even if the email address you use to log in is no longer valid.

Click on the link to your profile in the upper right-hand corner.

Click on the gray pencil next to "Contact Details." You'll be transferred to your record, where you can update your address, phone number, email and more. 

Update your email (and any other fields you'd like) and click on "Update Profile" at the bottom. 
You will get a confirmation message, but the change may take about 30 minutes to appear on your profile page.
Screenshot__572_.pngThe next time you log in, you will need to use your new email (password should stay the same). 

METHOD 2: If you want to change Community correspondence ONLY to a different email address (other EdTA communications will still come to your current email address). This will NOT change your access codes.

Again, log in using your regular access codes and open your profile page.

Under the "My Account" tab, click on "Email Preferences."

It will show you what email is currently being used for Community correspondence.

Click "Change" and enter the email where you would like to receive Community notifications, then click "Save." This is also the area where you can change the kind of Community notifications you receive by email.
