For teachers who wish to boost their lesson planning skills, EdTA is launching a new professional development program: The EdTA Model Lesson Plan Project.
Twenty-five teachers will be chosen from an all-call the field to receive professional development in standards-based lesson planning and best practices in assessment. Then, using the EdTA lesson plan template, each team member will produce 12 model lesson plans.
This project expands EdTA’s history of working with teacher leaders to create robust, standards-aligned materials. Previous initiatives and partnerships have produced the National Theatre Standards, the Opportunity to Learn Standards, the Theatre Teacher Evaluation Workbook, the Theatre Model Curriculum Framework, and several Model Cornerstone Assessments.
Teachers can apply online now through February 28. Participants will be selected by March 15, in time for a cyber kickoff meeting in March. The project will end May 31, 2020 with final lesson plan submission. Lesson plans developed through this project will be shared with EdTA members through Theatre Educator Pro.
Participation involves the following:
- Attending three 60-minute virtual meetings: kickoff, mid-point check in, and final reflection
- Completing four 30- to 45-minute self-paced learning modules on Theatre Educator Pro
- Creating 12 standards-based lesson plans
Each teacher chosen will receive a $500 honorarium for participation. Contact Education Manager Cory Wilkerson with questions about the project.
