Four veteran teachers will be inducted into the Educational Theatre Association’s Hall of Fame this fall. The Educational Theatre Association Hall of Fame Award is presented annually to up to five EdTA members who have dedicated twenty or more years to working in educational theatre.
The 2016 inductees are Jeff Hall from Jesuit High School, Troupe 5575 in Portland, Oregon; Betsy Bishop from Ashland High School, Troupe 4630 in Ashland, Oregon; Holly Stanfield from Bradford High School, Troupe 4982 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Paul Hampton from Columbus High School, Troupe 5390 in Columbus, Georgia.
The Hall of Fame class of 2016 will be inducted in ceremonies at the EdTA National Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada in September.
The International Thespian Society Honorary Thespian of the Year Award recognizes up to three individuals annually who have gone above and beyond the standard duties of a volunteer. The 2016 Honorary Thespians of the Year are Clay Bryant from Lakeview Academy, Troupe 3630 in Gainesville, Georgia; Frances and Mike Foley from St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Troupe 6388 in Greenville, South Carolina, and Ray Davis from Jonesboro High School, Troupe 1338 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Alexander Case from West Potomac High School, Troupe 1899 in Alexandria, Virginia will receive the Administrator’s Award, which recognizes outstanding school administrators who have demonstrated exemplary support for educational theatre.
The International Thespian Society Inspirational Theatre Educator Award recognizes up to three individuals annually who have inspired their students and dedicated themselves to providing quality theatre education. The Inspirational Theatre Educator Award will go to Anthony Cimino-Johnson from Rock Ridge Performing Arts, Troupe 8104 in Ashburn, Virginia; Betsy Bishop from Ashland High School, Troupe 4630 in Ashland, Oregon, and Tyler Timm from Lake Country Lutheran High School, Troupe 8181 in Hartland, Wisconsin.
The 2016 Outstanding Schools are West Potomac High School, Troupe 1899 in Alexandria, Virginia; Dublin Scioto High School, Troupe 5440 in Dublin, Ohio, and Yorktown High School, Troupe 1515 in Arlington, Virginia. The Educational Theatre Association Outstanding School Award is given annually to a maximum of twelve high schools (up to three per region) with theatre programs that exemplify and promote high standards in educational theatre.
