I am an educator

The Educational Theatre Association supports educators by providing professional development, networking opportunities, resources, and recognition.

The greatest benefit of a professional EdTA membership is becoming a part of a sprawling theatre education network that is rich in experience, props and costumes, and advice. Professional members receive special member pricing on EdTA’s annual Conference, a weekend of discussions and workshops that educate, fortify, and motivate the educators who attend. Conference is an excellent professional development opportunity, and graduate and CEU credit is often available. The Thespian Festival, held annually in Lincoln, Nebraska, is another opportunity for you to meet other professionals in your field, and a great time to send your students to college and scholarship auditions in between seeing high-quality productions, attending excellent workshops, and making many new friends.

EdTA also hands out many scholarships, grants and awards to educators and students every year.

As a professional member, you will have access to our advocacy services. EdTA can help you talk to your administrators and school board about the importance of your program to your students and the community at large.

Professional members of EdTA also receive the organization’s magazines, Teaching Theatre journal, a quarterly publication, as well as Dramatics magazine, a monthly magazine published September to May. Each year in December, Dramatics puts together a directory of college theatre programs across the country, a great resource for teachers trying to help juniors and seniors prepare for college.
