Field of 17 in board contest

May 23 2013

The EdTA Nominating Committee has approved a slate of seventeen candidates—believed to be record number—seeking two seats on the Board of Directors in next September’s election.

“It is gratifying to have this level of interest in a board election,” said Executive Director Julie Woffington. “To have so many members who are willing to commit their time and talent to the leadership of the organization bodes well for EdTA’s future.”

Members will select two of the candidates for three-year terms on the board. The top votegetter will join the board immediately following the election, in a new seat provided under a 2011 code revision. The other new board member will take office on August 1, 2014.

The candidates:

Michelle Bidart, a parent volunteer at Spanish Springs High School in Sparks, Nevada. An EdTA professional member, she is active in the Thespian organization in Northern Nevada.

A valid ballot petition must be signed by fifteen voting members from each of three different state chapters. A ballot petition form and instructions are posted below. The submission deadline for ballot petitions for the September election is July 15.

Vitae for all of the candidates will be posted here after the ballot petition deadline. Electronic voting will begin in late August, and members will be able to vote by paper ballot during the membership meeting at the Annual Conference in Minneapolis September 26-29.
